Join us for a vibrant celebration of community, agriculture, and conservation at the 2025 Kaw Valley Field Day! All are welcome at this FREE fundraising event.

Hosted by Save Our Soil Kaw Valley Foundation, this annual event brings together families, farmers, and friends to enjoy local food, music, educational workshops, and fun activities amid the beautiful landscape of the Kaw River Valley. Held at the iconic Shirk Barn, surrounded by harvest-ready fields, Field Day is a festive, hands-on reminder of the land’s value—and why it must be protected.

We are excited to announce the artist lineup for this event, including Lawrence’s own Chuck Mead, Jenna & Martin + Friends, Brody Buster, Sky Smeed, The Swallowtails, Cade Polsgrove, and Ryan Manuel.

  • 3:00pm - Sunset

    Start your hayrack ride to the pumpkin patch at the Southeast corner of the parking lot.  Once you’ve picked your perfect pumpkin in the Juniper Hill Farms pumpkin patch, hop on a hayrack ride back to the weigh and pay station.  Load your pumpkin treasures into your car and rejoin the rest of the Field Day activities!  50% of all pumpkin sales will be donated to the Save Our Soil Kaw Valley Foundation.  (Sponsored by Juniper Hill Farms)

    The Watkins Museum of History – Flint Corn “Craft-ivities” for kids!

    Join the Watkins Museum of History’s education staff for fun with Flint Corn! We will have coloring pages, a sensory activity bin, and kids can also make their own beaded ornamental corn craft to take home! (Sponsored by The Watkins Museum of History)

  • 3:00pm - Sunset

    Come see a variety of farm machines used in the Kaw River Valley – from giant combines and large tractors and planters, smaller tractors and specialty crop machinery used for vegetable production, there will be something for everyone young and old to enjoy!  Also meet farmers, and the equipment dealers that help keep the farmers going! (Sponsored by Shuck Implement Co and LDI)

  • 3:00pm - Sunset

    Educational and Non-Profit Booths

    Not all farming is the same – that’s especially true in the Kaw River Valley. Learn about soil, conservation practices, co-operatives, grains, specialty crops, ag technology, farmers, farming opportunities, and more at the wide variety of non-profit and educational booths scattered throughout the Kaw Valley Field Day!

    • Feel free to bring folding chairs and blankets for the concert

    • Sorry, you’ll have to leave your dogs and other furry friends at home

    • No outside liquor allowed- support our local beer tents and food trucks

    • This is out in the country- be prepared for gravel roads

    • We’ll be on lawns and fields- dress for it!

    • We’ll have ADA parking, porta-potties and will have carts to help you get around- ask the staff or volunteers if you need assistance

    • We’ll be going ahead rain or shine!
